Membership Criteria

To join The Ayaba Collective, prospective members must:

  • Identify as a woman of Bahamian heritage or have deep cultural ties to the Bahamian community.
  • Have a Bahamian-owned company.
  • Demonstrate leadership or a strong commitment to impact in healthcare, equity, innovation, or governance.
  • Align with The Collective’s mission, values, and collaborative spirit.
  • Be willing to engage meaningfully in a small, active, self-governing group.
  • Commitment to collective stewardship.

Membership Guidelines

As a small, trust-based collective, members are expected to:

  • Actively participate in regular meetings and collective decision-making.
  • Contribute skills, insights, and resources to support shared projects or goals.
  • Uphold principles of transparency, honesty, integrity, collaboration, and mutual respect.
  • Share in responsibilities, including rotating administrative/logistical duties as needed.
  • Engage with intention – this is a space for reciprocal growth, not passive affiliation.

Membership Process

Prospective members are invited to share a brief personal statement outlining their background, interests, and alignment with the collective’s mission.

A casual but intentional conversation with existing members to explore mutual fit and expectations.

All current members must consent to extending an invitation to join.

New members are oriented to the shared agreements, expectations, and immediate next steps for involvement

Sustaining The Collective

The Collective operates without membership fees or dues. When shared initiatives arise, participating members agree on the approach and contribute directly, ensuring transparency and autonomy for every business involved. This approach minimizes administrative burden and reinforces the collaborative spirit of the group.

Balanced Investment

Shared costs (e.g., domain registration, subscriptions, retreats, resources) will be split equitably among participating members.

Collective Approval

All potential expenses will be proposed, discussed, and agreed upon collectively before any commitments are made.
